Tiles and Smiles
If you are like our family, you love going to “paint your own pottery” shops. Problem is, once you’ve gone a few times, you run out of space to put all of the knick knacks the kids have created. Here’s a great solution. Instead of painting ceramic statues, have the kids create a picture on a 6x6 or 4x4 tile. It’s good to have an idea of what you are painting before you go. We usually go with a theme, for instance, paint a picture of your favorite thing you have done this summer. Once it’s fired, we hang it up with Velcro on the side of the cabinets (it’s moveable if needed). It’s a great way to showcase the family’s artwork, keeps your cost down when you go to the pottery place, and gives you something to do on a rainy day. We’ve actually had our extended family create tiles, and love looking back through the years, and remembering the fun we’ve had. Did you know there is a new pottery place in Maryville? Polka Dot Pottery…go visit, and start your own tile wall, you’ll be happy you did!
