Summer Camps:    Parks & Rec

SUMMER YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

This summer youth basketball program is available free of charge for boys and girls Ages 8-13. Games will be played on Thursdays in June and July at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center outdoor courts. Registration will be taken May 16th 12:00-2:00 PM at the Center. Volunteer coaches and officials are always welcome and needed. For more information or to volunteer, please call the MLK Center during the month of May at 983-1954.

SPORTS & MORE KIDS CAMP

For Ages 5-12

Campers of all skill levels and ages will participate in an exciting sports-filled day.
Sport stations will be set-up so children have an opportunity to take part in many different activities.
Campers will focus on teamwork, individual achievement, and sportsmanship.
Our goal is to give your child the most positive sports experience possible, while keeping it "Fun".

Dates: Session 1: May 26-29 Tuesday-Friday
Session 2: June 2-5 Tuesday-Friday
Time: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Drop-off begins at 7:45 AM)
Extended hours available 3:00-4:30 PM for an additional fee
Location: Everett Recreation Center
Costs: $70.00 per session (includes camp T-shirt)
Additional week discount: $67.00 (does not include T-shirt)
Second sibling discount: $67.00
Extended hours $20.00 per week with a minimum of 6 children required to offer
Lunch: Campers should bring a sack lunch and drink each day.
No food available on site except for snacks, which will be available to purchase.

who also coaches Soccer, Upward Basketball and is a Marathon Runner

YOUTH PERFORMING ARTS DAY CAMP

For Ages 6-12

Campers participate in performing arts classes and activities
including storytelling, movement, music, singing, acting and
theater games and crafts. Performing experience is not required.

Dates: Session 1: June 8-12 for Ages 6-10
Session 2: June 15-19 for Ages 8-12
Time: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Extended childcare hours: 8:00-9:00 AM / 2:00-4:00 PM if absolutely necessary for an additional fee with a minimum of 5 children required to offer
Location: Everett Recreation Center
Costs: $70.00 per week (includes camp T-shirt and supplies)
Second sibling or additional week discount: $67.00
Extended hours $25.00 per week

SOCCER CAMP

For Ages 6-12

This camp will provide technical and tactical instruction with emphasis
being based upon individual ball control and skill development.

CAMP CHICKABABA DAY CAMP

For Disabled Persons Ages 6 Years & Older

This camp includes fun and therapeutic activities such as arts and crafts,
indoor and outdoor games, music, swimming, ability appropriate field trips and more.

Space is limited each week.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN ALL-STAR BASKETBALL CAMP

For Boys & Girls Ages 6-13

Campers will learn valuable skills at their respective positions and basic fundamentals of the game of basketball.
Boys and girls will be instructed separately.

GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL CAMP

For Rising 6, 7 & 8th Graders

This camp, intended for all player levels, is designed to teach
and enhance one's volleyball skills and overall performance on the court.
Participants will be grouped according to age if numbers allow.

Dates: June 22-26
Time: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Everett Recreation Center
Cost: $75.00

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS CAMP

For Ages 8-15

Campers will learn about stream and forest ecology with
emphasis on plant and animal biology and animal signs and tracking
in a fun camp atmosphere that also includes nature crafts.

Dates: June 22-26
Time: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Drop-off and pick-up at various parks in Maryville and Alcoa. Contact Parks & Rec. for complete details.
Cost: $100.00

7 day Blue Ridge Introduction (ages 12-14)

Activities include camping, hiking, backpacking, caving, rock climbing and whitewater rafting. Emphasis is on learning basic outdoor skills and having fun! The 7 day camp is for middle school kids.

Ages 12-14. Dates: 6/14-6/20; 6/21-6/27; 6/28-7/4; 7/5-7/11; 7/19-7/25; 7/26-8/1. Tuition is $800.

Ages: 14-17. Dates: 6/14-6/26; 6/28-7/10; 7/19-7/31. Tuition is $1600.

Discovery Camp I, June 8 - 13, 2009
Discovery Camp II, June 22 - 27, 2009

Discovery Camp is full of firsts for many kids. Each one is an exciting discovery - that's why we
gave it that name. It's a place to explore science and nature while getting down and dirty with the forests, rivers, and critters that make these mountains home. Search for salamanders, collect insects, experience the awesome power of a waterfall, hike through wilderness, cool off in the swimming hole and laugh with your new friends around the campfire. This is the place where you will discover just how exciting summer camp can be. Camp lasts Monday afternoon to Saturday morning.

Cost: $455. Ages 9-12. (For a longer program for ages 11-13, see the Naturalist Expeditions)

WILDFLOWER HIKE

Anyone ever told you to take a hike? Well, now is your opportunity. Camp Wesley Woods is offering a free guided wildflower hike for anyone who loves to be in God's creation. The hike will start at 9:00 am and end around 12:30pm. Bring a picnic lunch for after.

CHILDREN'S DAY

Bring the kids to a free day at camp. This is a great opportunity for new and old campers alike. Lots of things will be happening so come out and play! Bring a lunch and a shirt to tie-dye.
